LESSON 1 OF 7 · 4 MINUTES
Be discoverable before being remarkable
Google and AI cannot recommend a page they cannot access. Start with the plumbing, not another batch of articles.

Crawled is not the same as indexed
Crawling finds pages. Indexing decides whether to store and understand them. Serving selects results for a query. A successful page request or a submitted sitemap does not mean a page is indexed. Open Google Search Console, inspect one important page and read the actual indexing status. If it is excluded, investigate the stated reason before rewriting it.
Check the boring things first
Your important page should return a successful response, contain readable content and have at least one crawlable internal link. Check for accidental noindex tags, login requirements and robots.txt blocks. A robots.txt block prevents crawling, but is not a reliable way to remove an already-known URL from search. Check the canonical destination too: you may be asking Google to treat another URL as the main page. Submit a sitemap containing the pages you actually want indexed.
AI visibility starts with the same foundation
For Google AI features, a page needs to be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet. There is no separate AI schema or special AI text file required. Useful information should be available as text, not only inside an image. Bing Webmaster Tools provides a second perspective on discovery for Bing and associated experiences. Eligibility is not a guarantee of inclusion or citation.
PUT IT TO WORK
Inspect your most valuable page in Search Console. Write down its indexing status, selected canonical and one reason it might be excluded. Fix a genuine access problem before changing content.
Where Obbio.ai fits
Obbio.ai can help publish content through a connected website. Still check the live page yourself: a publishing connection does not replace indexing checks.
